Quick answer

What's a good nikah or wedding gift in Pakistan?

A couple mug with the bride and groom sculpted by hand in their own outfits, from Rs 2,400. Send photos of the lehenga or sharara and the sherwani and we match the colours. It takes 7–10 days to make in Lahore, plus Rs 250 delivery anywhere in Pakistan, so order well before the nikah.

A short guide

Getting the gift right

Three things that make the gift feel personal, from the studio that has made 1,000+ mugs.

  1. Tip 1

    Order 10 days ahead

Every mug is made by hand in 7–10 days, then posted. If your date is closer, message us on WhatsApp before ordering and we will tell you honestly if we can make it.

  2. Tip 2

    Send outfit photos

The dupatta, the sherwani, the colours of the day. Reference photos help us get the details right.

  3. Tip 3

    Keep the text short

Names and a date look neat in clay. Very long lines are hard to make tidy at this size.

The full guide

Shadi season fills a couple's home with envelopes, crockery sets and things they did not choose. A gift that shows the two of them, in the clothes they wore on the day, stands apart from all of that. A Polymer Hands couple mug is exactly that: the bride and groom shaped by hand from polymer clay in our Lahore studio, fixed onto a real mug and baked so the clay sets. It is something they can drink their first chai from as a married couple and keep long after the wedding photos are filed away.

Which mug is right for a nikah or wedding?

The couple on their day

The couple mug (from Rs 2,400) holds two figures: the dulhan and dulha, side by side or seen from behind holding hands. This is the natural choice for a nikah, baraat or walima gift.

The couple and their families

If you want parents, siblings or a nephew with the ring pillow in the scene, a family mug starts at Rs 2,700 for three figures. Extra figures are Rs 300 each, up to eight figures in total. This works well as a gift from the whole family, or for a couple who are very close to their parents.

One mug each

Some people prefer two separate single-figure mugs (from Rs 2,100 each), one for the bride and one for the groom, so each has a mug of their own.

Simple and elegant

A name mug (from Rs 1,900) uses clay letters and no figure: initials, a date, or "Nikah Mubarak" with clay flowers around it.

How do we get the outfits right?

First, pick one event. A nikah look, a mehndi look in yellow and green, a red bridal lehenga at the baraat and a pastel walima outfit are all very different, and one mug shows one moment. Then upload up to five reference photos when you personalise the mug. Photos of the actual outfits are best, but a picture of the fabric or the planned colours works if the clothes are still being stitched.

Useful details to mention:

  • The dupatta colour and how it is worn, and any jewellery you want suggested in clay, like a tikka or bangles.
  • Lehenga, sharara or gharara for the bride; sherwani, kurta or prince coat for the groom.
  • A kulla, turban or traditional cap, a sehra, a sword, or a garland.
  • Hair, beard, glasses, and roughly who is taller.

Our usual style is blank faces or a couple seen from behind. If you would rather have cute cartoon faces with eyes and a smile, ask for them. One bride-to-be from Gilgit did, and you can read how her traditional bride and groom mug turned out.

For the mug itself, glossy white keeps the focus on the outfits. Matte red, royal blue, black or dark green (Rs 300 extra) give a richer, deeper background.

What should you write on a wedding mug?

Keep it short. The couple's initials and the nikah date, "Nikah Mubarak", "Qubool hai" or "Mr & Mrs" all look neat in clay. Urdu and English both work. Very long lines, like a full verse or a long dua, are hard to keep tidy at this size, so we may suggest a shorter version. Put the longer words in the gift message instead and we will place it in the box.

How early should you order for a shadi?

Wedding dates do not move, so plan backwards from the day you will hand over the gift. If you are giving it at the mehndi, count from the mehndi, not the walima. Every mug is made by hand in 7–10 days and then handed to a courier with tracking. Delivery is Rs 250 anywhere in Pakistan, and the courier usually takes 2–3 days after dispatch.

Order at least 10 days ahead, and earlier if the wedding is in another city or close to a public holiday. If the date is under 10 days away, message us on WhatsApp at 0335-4602621 before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether it can be done. We send a photo of the finished mug before it is dispatched.

If you are travelling for the wedding, you can have the mug delivered to wherever you will be staying, or straight to the couple's new home.

A note for the newly-weds

Tell the couple how to look after it: hand wash with warm soapy water and a soft sponge, and keep it out of the microwave, oven and dishwasher. The full care guide explains why. For more ideas, browse our couple mugs and the anniversary mugs page for the years that follow.

Questions

Nikah & wedding gift questions

Can you make the bride in a lehenga and the groom in a sherwani?

Yes. Upload up to five photos of the outfits when you personalise the mug and we match the colours and details, like the dupatta, a kulla or a sehra. Faces are blank or seen from behind by default, and cartoon faces are made on request.

Can the parents or the whole family be on the wedding mug?

Yes. A family mug starts at Rs 2,700 for three figures, and extra figures are Rs 300 each, up to eight figures in total. That is enough for the couple with both sets of parents, or the couple with siblings.

Can the nikah date and initials be written in Urdu?

Yes. Urdu and English text both work. Initials, a date, “Nikah Mubarak” or “Qubool hai” look neat in clay. Very long lines, such as a full verse, are hard to keep tidy at this size, so we may suggest a shorter version.

Can the design wrap all the way around the mug?

No. The design goes on one side, because the mug is baked after the clay is attached. Our mugs are also a little thicker than everyday mugs so they survive the bake of roughly an hour.

Can I order wedding mugs for several guests or relatives?

For several mugs, use the enquiry form on our bulk orders page and tell us roughly what you need. The studio will reply with options. Each mug is still sculpted by hand, so give as much notice as you can before the wedding.
